Get to Know Forman Scholar Amare Smith!

Sports play a significant role in the life of Amare Smith, and he’s hoping to learn even more about the ins and outs of the industry as a sports management student at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. Learn more about Amare and the plans he has for his college career.

What made you want to study at Stonehill?

Originally, the school was interested in me playing football. Then, I learned more about the sports management program offered, and seeing how I just love being around sports, it seemed like the perfect fit.

What sports do you compete in?

As a student-athlete at Salem, I played on the football, basketball and track teams. In fact, winning the football championship a few years ago was the highlight of my high school career.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to be working as a professional athlete. If that doesn’t work out, I hope to be pursuing a career that is involved with sports in some way.

How do you plan to make the most of your experience at Stonehill?

Besides playing football, I’m looking forward to being a part of the campus life at Stonehill. I want to make the most of the next few years since I’ve heard how fast they can fly by.

How has the Forman Acton Foundation contributed to your growth as a person and a student?

With the support of the Foundation, I’ve learned to take my education much more seriously. I’ve become more focused on my studies and committed to going the extra mile. I hope to build upon these habits as a college student.
