Get to Know Forman Scholar Evan Biddle!

Evan Biddle enjoys spending time outdoors, and by studying fisheries and wildlife management at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland, he hopes to one day return to Salem as a game warden or wildlife biologist. Learn more about Evan and the plans he has for his college career.

What gravitated you toward your current course of study?

I love outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, and Frostburg’s fisheries and wildlife management program offers me the opportunity to convert my current passions into a college degree I can use for life. Not many schools offer this type of major, and that’s one of the reasons that drew me to Frostburg in the first place.

How did you stay involved as a student at Salem High School?

In high school, I was heavily involved in athletics, competing on the baseball, basketball and soccer teams. I also was a member of Student Council and the Academic League. In addition, I worked a few jobs. I ran my own lawn business, worked in construction for a family friend, worked as a firefighter and EMT for Pennsville Township, and volunteered at the Elsinboro Fire Company.

What’s your favorite high school memory?

I always loved playing baseball in the spring. Out of all the sports I’m involved in, baseball is my favorite. I’m looking forward to continuing to play as a member of Frostburg’s team.

What are you most looking forward to as you start your college journey?

For me, college is the start of true adulthood and presents an opportunity for me to discover more about who I am and who I can become. I expect to mature a lot over the next few years but eventually graduate with a degree I can use forever. While the many changes in store make me a bit nervous, I’m still looking forward to living independently and furthering my passions.

How has the Forman Acton Foundation contributed to your growth as a person and a student?

The Foundation has certainly made college more affordable and accessible for me. By offsetting my college expenses, I’ll have the opportunity to attend graduate school down the road if that’s something I’d be interested in.
