With her sights set on a career in a hospital’s delivery room, Najasi Esposito is pursuing a degree in nursing at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Learn more about Najasi and the plans she has for her college career.

Why did you decide to study nursing at Widener?

The school is known for having a top-notch program and a high NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) pass rate. These strong academic credentials, coupled with the school’s beautiful campus and living-learning community program, made choosing Widener a no-brainer.

How would you describe your high school experience?

Unlike the other Scholars, I went to Salem County Vocational and Technical School. Through the school’s allied health program, I learned several skills related to wound care, vital signs and PPE (personal protective equipment). I also volunteered for numerous organizations and worked an after-school job.

How do you plan to get involved at Widener?

I’m looking forward to meeting the other nursing students in my class year and forming a study group. I’d also like to get involved in a Chrisitan bible study group. I can’t wait to explore all that Widener has to offer!

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

I hope to be working as an RN (registered nurse) in a hospital’s labor and delivery room, helping women and children while also continuing to learn new things about the healthcare field. I also would like to start a family of my own. Oh, and hopefully I’ll already have gone on my dream vacation to New Orleans or the Maldives.

How has the Forman Acton Foundation contributed to your growth as a person and a student?

The Foundation has intensified my personal growth by helping me see a bigger and brighter future for myself. I’ve been fortunate to receive so many opportunities and receive acceptance to an excellent school. By working with the Foundation’s staff, I’ve learned about critical aspects of the college process – such as how to navigate loans, budgeting and the financial aid process – so that I can focus the majority of my efforts on becoming a nurse.
